Sinterklaas visits the Shanghai Dutch School

Sinterklaas and his helpers arrived last week by boat on the Huang Pu River on the Bund. In his busy schedule of wrapping presents, baking pepernoten, writing in his book and filling shoes at night, he still had some time to visit Shanghai Dutch School at BISS Puxi.

Sinterlass kept the Dutch students busy at the Shanghai Dutch School. First the students started to learn all kind of Pietenskills like walking with presents on the roof, climbing and carrying heavy bags with presents. After practicing they welcomed Sinterklaas by singing and dancing outside on the playground. Sinterklaas and his helpers were invited to the Primary Theatre where students could check if all the helpers were fit and in good shape. Unfortunately they found out that one black helper was not participating in the exercises and was very chubby. The students told Sinterklaas and Sinterklaas put him on a diet. Sinterklaas checked his big red book and all the students have been very good this year so they received a bag of traditional candy.

It was a very exciting afternoon and Sinterklaas was very impressed by the students. He promised to come back next year!
