IB Graduation Ceremony

17 June 2013

The year 13 students have now completed their final exams. We are very proud of their efforts over the last two years and look forward to seeing some impressive exam results.

Following the final examinations, we marked their graduation with two events: the Graduation Ceremony and the Graduation Dinner. The graduation ceremony for Year 13 students was a very special event in the school calendar. This year’s cohort is the fifth set of students to graduate from our IB Diploma Programme and is the largest yet. To mark their impressive achievements over the two year course, our students were presented with their certificates of graduation as well as commemorative scarves or ties. The Year 13s looked absolutely splendid in their graduation gowns and clearly enjoyed the occasion. A fine valedictorian speech was delivered by two of our outstanding students, Mayu Tojo and Ji Min Lee.

The following evening, we further celebrated the achievements of the graduating class with a Graduation Dinner at the Hotel Shangri-La. This has become an important school tradition and, as usual, the hotel’s service and catering were excellent. The event was an emotional occasion in which pride for the students’ achievements was mixed with sadness at their departure. The evening featured numerous tributes to the cohort and to their impressive achievements during their time at the school. There was also a moving finale in which the students delivered personal thanks and flowers to each individual teacher which spoke volumes about their collective warmth and generosity of spirit. As a school, we shall certainly miss the Year 13 students and will be eagerly following their progress at university and beyond.
