There will be a presentation by our Head of Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11), Paul Kelly, as well as a chance to go round and talk to all the Heads of Department to discuss their subjects and ask any questions about studying that subject at IGCSE level.
Andrew Lancaster, Head of Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9) will be at the event, as he sees his Year 9s moving up to the next level of the school:
“This evening is an excellent opportunity for students at Key Stage 3 to gather information about IGCSE courses. Whilst there are many core subjects that students continue with at Key Stage 4, this is the first time that many students will choose which subjects to continue studying at school. It is very important that they make the right choices and the focus will be to support them in this process. Teachers will be able to provide advice and guidance to help prepare them for their individual learning pathway in the senior part of the secondary school.”
Paul Kelly hopes that all of Year 9 and their parents are able to make it next Tuesday:
“IGCSEs are new to a lot of people and so this evening is an important opportunity for parents to learn about the examinations their children will undertake in two years, plus a chance to meet the experts who will be delivering the courses. Recent experience suggests parents appreciate the chance to ask questions of the teachers and to see the standard of work which is expected of a BISS Puxi IGCSE student.”
We hope to see as many of you there next Tuesday as possible for an interesting evening learning about the next stage in your children’s school career.
