Registration is now open for this year’s Summer School which runs from 30 June to 18 July and is open to students from BISS Puxi as well as outside the school community.
There will be two programmes running simultaneously: one for children learning English as a second language, and one for those learning Mandarin as a second language. Both of these courses will consist of language lessons in the morning, age and level appropriate, and a range of activities in the afternoon.
These afternoon activity sessions are designed to provide an opportunity for children to socialise, develop confidence and practise their language skills through activities such as sports, arts and crafts and film making. There will also be some off-site trips with an educational theme that will be fun and interesting.
Head of EAL, James Carson, is Director of the Summer School:
“I’m very much looking forward to directing the Summer School this year. We have a great team of experienced and well qualified teaching staff mainly from BISS Puxi who will be teaching the various language courses and activities and will make sure your child learns as much English or Mandarin as possible and has fun doing so not only in class but in the afternoon activities too. I’m very excited that we are able to offer the Cambridge Starters, Movers and Flyers exams this year, as well as prepare more senior students with academic English or for their IELTs exams. It will be a fun and rewarding experience for the students and I look forward to seeing your children there!”

“My two children attended the BISS Puxi Summer School last year and had a great time, making new friends and taking part in all sorts of activities. Their favourite thing was the trip to the Botanical Garden and the roller skating rink and I was happy that they were working on their English whilst having fun!”
