Year 4 Explore the Water Town of Zhujiajiao

07 May 2014

Today the adventurous children in Year 4 visited a little water town called Zhujiajiao. Michelle Hills, Year 4 Leader, tells us about their trip and what they learned.

  • Year 4 trip to Zhujiajiao May 2014

In their humanities classes and as part of their themed learning, the children in Year 4 have been comparing city life to country life so went off to Zhujiajiao looking for the differences.

Armed with their sunglasses, hats, work booklets, sun cream and trainers they explored the little lanes of this interesting old town.

After a walk along the cobbled pavements next to the river, we visited the old Post Office and found out that a long time ago messages were written and sent on turtle shells and animal bones!  Next, our smart pupils discovered the Pharmacy, where there were many curious looking instruments and vases.  We enjoyed walking over the many bridges across the river, including the famous Fangsheng Bridge with five arches.

After all that exploring the children relaxed in the beautiful Kezhi Gardens.  The day was as brilliant as our Year 4 children and all came back to school tired but happy and full of all the things they had learned.
