Pleased to Meet You...Martin Game

11 June 2014

This week we spoke to Martin Game, Head of Secondary Music to find out a bit more about him.

  • Pleased to Meet you Martin Game, Head of Secondary Music

How long have you been at BISS Puxi? Only six months, I joined in January! But I am coming up now to the end of my fifth year in Shanghai.

Where were you working before? I was working on the other side of the river at BISS Pudong as Head of Music.

What do you enjoy about working in our school? The diversity of work: every day is different. One day you could be performing in assembly and the next writing reports!

What is your favourite musical instrument? My favourite instrument to play is the Piano, but I'll play different instruments depending on what mood I am in. I like to improvise and put my own interpretation on music.  I like to listen to Chet Baker on Trumpet and also Miles Davis. I grew up with bands like Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi and Guns and Roses and am partial to the odd Slash Riff!

What is your favourite thing to do in Shanghai at the weekend? I like to explore either on foot or by using the Metro. One of my favourite places is the Shanghai Circuit, especially if there is Supercar testing going on, and of course the F1 in April.

Where are you from and what do you miss most about home? I’m from the UK and I miss watching football at a proper time of the day, and old fashioned Sundays… newspaper, big lunch and then a stroll along the beach in my home town of Brightlingsea on the Essex coast!
