20 June 2014

Today's update from Activity Week...

  • Year 8 groups in the desert and the grasslands in Inner Mongolia
  • Year 9 heading home from Vietnam

Year 8 today: Group 1 having fun in the desert and Group 2 in the grasslands learning about wind turbines, Year 9 at the airport on their way home this morning.

Year 7

Year 7 are due to arrive back to school tonight after a half a day of activities today. Their flight home is cuurently delayed by approximately 1 hour. It is now expected to arrive at the airport at approximately 7:55pm and it is anticipated that the group will arrive back at school at 9pm. If you now decide to collect your child from Hongqiao Airport at 7:55pm, please ensure that you notify their teacher at the airport and also collect their passport. The flight details are: Flight ZH9815 Shenzhen to Hongqiao, Terminal 2

Year 8

Last night we set up our tents and the pupils prepared their own dinners. Even though we got caught in a heavy downpour (yes - in the desert!) everyone remained in good spirits and we soon dried out when the sun came out. Today started with an optional sunrise walk at 4 am followed by a breakfast of porridge and bananas. After packing up camp everyone enjoyed riding camels, sand sliding and hiking. This afternoon we are looking forward to The Amazing Race and after a 2-hour bus journey we will arrive at our final destination where we will have a Mongolian hot pot.

Year 9

Year 9 have arrived safely home in Shanghai today, after a great week in Vietnam. They have come back with lots of great memories, but are all pleased to be home!

Year 12

Group 1: The students were teaching in the Starfish schools and finishing their painting project this morning. After saying goodbye to the children, they headed to the Russian market this afternoon for some shopping. After dinner, they’ll be making their way to the airport for the overnight flight back to Shanghai.

Group 2: Today the students have been continuing their house renovation and tree nursery projects. They’ll have dinner round the camp fire this evening, and tonight will be their last night in the camp before packing up and heading back to Phnom Penh tomorrow.
