Donate Your Old Football Equipment to a Good Cause

03 June 2014

Our Year 12s will be going to Cambodia during Activities Week this year to work with the Indochina Starfish Foundation and they are looking for some support from our community. Hear more from them below…

  • ISF Football Collection 2014

During Activities Week we will be carrying out service work in Starfish schools.  BISS Puxi has been sending students to Starfish schools for many years now and we have built up a relationship with the organization.

The Indochina Starfish Foundation Education Programme strives to take children in Phnom Penh (mostly from the slums )who have never had the benefit of schooling, or those who have had to stop education for economic reasons, and support them, through a period of ‘Catch Up’ teaching, to their correct age grade for state school. Thereafter the children are sponsored through state school and onto vocational training or further education. These are children who currently spend their days scavenging in the streets of Phnom Penh to earn money for their families.

They also run a Football Programme that coaches both boys and girls from across Cambodia. The Football Programme has a League which operates for six months a year and holds two annual tournaments held in March for both boys and girls. In addition to this, the programme is also used as a platform to educate the participants on valuable life lessons such as the dangers of alcohol, gambling, drugs, gender equality, domestic violence and human trafficking.

To help them to continue the great work they’re doing, they would welcome any sort of football equipment and so we are running a collection for us to take with us to Cambodia when we go during Activities Week.

If you have any football gear that your child has out grown then please consider donating it to this great cause.  We are looking for the following:

  • Football shirts
  • Football boots
  • Football socks
  • Shin pads
  • Football boots
  • Goalkeepers gloves

Clothes/equipment need to be clean and in good order working order.  There will be a collection box in both primary and secondary receptions.

Many thanks for all your support with this. We can't wait to see the children's faces when we deliver all the great equipment and couldn't do it without your help!
