More Success For The Year 7 and 8 Mathematics Team

05 June 2014

On Tuesday 27 May, seven Year 7 and 8 students coached by Dr. Pitcher, competed for the first time in the Shanghai Virtual Mathematics competition.

  • BISS Puxi success in the Shanghai Virtual Mathematics Competition

This competition has been growing steadily since its inception last year and now has over 400 students competing from schools all over Shanghai.

A strong captain’s performance from Jeong Gyeom Brian Kim was backed up by excellent support from Harvey Yuen and Daniel Hawkins, and saw BISS Puxi’s Team Red placed third in their age bracket out of the 42 teams competing.

BISS Puxi’s Team Blue, captained by Vladimir Sukhoi, and with superb assistance from Kai Wen Yeoh, Mitchell Lee, and Dennis Wei, achieved a ranking of eighth.

All the students should be proud of their achievement, which comes hot on the heels of their outstanding performance in the global Purple Comet mathematics competition in April. The start of the 2014 school year in August will bring more virtual mathematics competitions and undoubtedly more success for these individuals and BISS Puxi.
