The New Parent Programme at their first lunch last week and parents catching up after the holidays at the PTA Coffee Morning
In the first two weeks of school, there have already been a number of events run by the PTA and school which have been well attended.
The first coffee morning saw nearly one hundred, staff, parents and PTA committee members meet, chat and catch up. The New Parent Programme also held their first lunch at Pizza Express in the Fashion Mall. Over 50 came and sampled some of the best pizza and pasta in Shanghai.
By the time some of you will be reading this, the second lunch at The Big Bamboo Sports Bar on Hong Mei Lu will have been equally well attended.
We mentioned that the theme was welcome back and on that note, the BISS Puxi Welcome Back Party is on Saturday 20 September. It is always a great night with the best live band in town, drinks and snacks on sale and another opportunity to get together for a party! Tickets are on sale now for 60 RMB and children are free. To get yours, just complete the form on the letter that went home at the beginning of term and which can also be found on the website. Students in Years 10 – 13 are permitted to come unattended by parents or guardians, but must get a free ticket in advance.
The first parent tour is planned for Thursday 18 September and will include the Flower Market at Hong Qiao, the Korean Market and an optional lunch at Simply Thai on Laowai Street, Hong Mei Lu. The two markets quickly become firm favourites once visited. We will help with how to buy, what to pay, when to haggle and so on. We will meet at 9am at school and a bus will leave at 9:15am to take us to the markets, being back at school no later than 3pm. If you are interested in coming along, contact Alice Hudson on firstname.lastname@example.org for a sign up form by 10 September. The cost will depend on how many sign up, but is usually around 110 RMB.
The BISS Puxi New Parent Programme Facebook group is up and running, so if you are new to BISS Puxi this year, make sure you join the group and post any questions or share any great restaurants you find. It has some pictures from the recent events and will be a great way to connect with other new parents this year. Don’t forget to also like the school Facebook page, where you can find out more about what’s going on in school and keep up with the latest news and events.
A busy start to the year for the PTA – welcome again and we look forward to seeing you at many of the upcoming events!
