Our parents and staff getting to know each other at this week's Meet and Greet events
These events build trust and understanding, and the staff enjoyed getting to know about the families in their care and establishing a good basis for partnership over the course of the year.
The warm welcome for new parents continues over the next few weeks with the PTA New Parents’ Lunch this week and on the 20 September all parents are invited to join us for the much loved PTA Welcome Back Party. There are also a variety of information giving events and workshops to assist parents in supporting their children in their learning across the age range, from Early Years Cubs to IB Academy.
Face to face meetings are by far the best way for this to happen and we will provide lots more opportunities for this over the course of the year. However there are some other very important communication media options available to you to help you stay in touch with what is going on at school. The school’s website and in particular the Parents’ Hub is designed to help you access important information about school life. The calendar lists all of the events taking place and the blog provides regular updates on all of the exciting experiences that your children are enjoying at BISS Puxi and beyond. Another very important source of information is the weekly newsletter which pulls together the week’s events which we send out on a Friday, via a subscription email service. Make sure you sign up to the newsletter and get the latest news straight to your inbox.
You can, of course email staff directly and they will respond as soon as they can. Please remember that they spend most of their day in class leading teaching and learning and therefore they cannot respond immediately. They will respond to you within 24 hours. If you need to communicate with us about an urgent matter the best route is normally via the receptionists. In Secondary this is Cathy Xu email@example.com , in Primary this is Jane Gao firstname.lastname@example.org and in Early Years this is Catharine Zhang email@example.com who will deal with your call or find the right person to respond to your enquiry.
Finally on the subject of communication, please call reception if your son/daughter will be absent from school. This speeds up our checking process and ensures that we can spot as quickly as possible if someone has not made it to school. For this reason please also do your utmost to keep your contact details on our system up to date so that we can keep you in touch with all that is going on at school.
Now that we are a couple of weeks in to term, it is time for me to invite people to come forward if you are keen to contribute to the life of the school. Our school community is full of highly skilled and educated people. If you feel you can contribute something, for example as a qualified teacher or coach or you can offer to work in support of the PTA or within our community service programme or deliver a speech on a specialism or host a student for work experience, please let us know and we will do our very best to accommodate you and get you involved. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
