10 Days of Chinese New Year

16 January 2015

We are delighted to announce our ‘10 Days of Chinese New Year’ as part of our 10th Anniversary celebrations. Fiona McConnon, Assistant Head for Global Languages, explains what it’s all about.

  • 10 Days of Chinese New Year at BISS Puxi

From Monday 2 to Friday 13 February we will be hosting a series of cultural activities across the curriculum, culminating in a whole school Chinese New Year performance on Wednesday 11 February in the secondary auditorium.

These activities cut across the curriculum and are aimed at developing greater interest in and understanding of Chinese culture, and at embedding the culture throughout our school. We know that this is something that parents are very keen to see even more of and we are excited about making this happen.

At BISS Puxi, we believe that learning about Chinese cultural traditions will be fun, will enrich our students’ lives and provide them with a deeper level of understanding of Mandarin.

Below you will find the schedule of events for the 10 Days of Chinese New Year as well as a bit more about our special Chinese New Year performance, to which we hope you can all come along!

10 Days of Chinese New Year
  • Day 1 (2 Feb): Key Stage 3 Chinese Quiz
  • Day 2 (3 Feb): Cooking Chinese dumplings
  • Day 3 (4 Feb): Visit from a classical Chinese orchestra and performance for Year 6 and Year 7 pupils
