Students Star In Global Maths Competition

29 October 2015

On Monday 19 October, 30 pupils from Years 7, 8 and 9 competed in the ‘Highfour’ maths competition, an extremely demanding and tough international maths competition with teams made up from schools all over the world.

  • Maths Competition

Pupils worked in teams of three or four and had thirty minutes to answer twenty challenging mathematical questions. In total there were 35 teams, with three of the Year 9 BISS Puxi teams finishing in the top six. Harvey Yuen, Josh Kwak and Lara Chan’s team scored a total of 17 out of 20 to finish in second place. There were also notable performances from teams in Years 7 and 8, with Harry Johnson, Kris Shivkumar and Henry Haefliger finishing in eleventh, and Joshua Wang, Jack Lee and Hugo Noublanche finishing twelfth.

There will be more Highfour competitions running in future months, and so if you are in Years 7, 8 or 9 and are interested in taking part, then please speak to your maths teacher or email Mr Tilley.
