Costumes have been brought, trialled and photographed, and the theatre programme has been made. The Key Stage Three students involved are beginning to get very excited indeed: next week, is show week!
We won’t tell you much about the show as we don’t want to give it away, but what we will say is that it involves love, revenge, disguise and… bread. The production will be performed in the style of Commedia dell'arte, a form of theatre that was born in Italy during the 16th Century. Traditionally, productions in the style of Commedia dell’arte were performed in public squares, using simple backdrops and props. Each member of the company played a particular stock character - some examples being the greedy old man, the damsel in distress, and many devious servants. You will see all of these characters and more in our production.
In order to advertise the musical to younger students, four pupils across Key Stage Three – Leon Palmgren, Cian Choo, Silvia Cassanelli and Hugh Ross – performed a pivotal scene to Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 this week. They were met with laughter and appreciation, and performed with accuracy and energy. At the Christmas Fair this Saturday, look out for our cast members in costume. They may just persuade you to buy some tickets!
‘Fool’s Gold’ is suitable for all ages, and will be enjoyed by young and old. Performance dates are 7pm on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 December, in the secondary auditorium. Tickets can be purchased from Secondary reception, or from the PTA Christmas Fair, at 40RMB per adult, and 20RMB per student.
