We started the season managing to hold on to a grand total of 4 players that had previously played volleyball for the school.
New players coming into the squad had little experience and there was minimal amount of training sessions before our first game.
However outstanding results against the French and Singaporean schools, along with strong performances against the always-strong Suzhou and German school sides proved that we were serious competitors.
We treated the Shanghai league as preparation for the season’s final tournament, ACAMIS, in Xiamen. It was surprising how we managed to pull a team together to go to this tournament given the injuries and other issues we suffered; in the end the squad had been slimmed to only 9 players.
However this gave opportunity for players that had not played a whole lot in the Shanghai League to truly show what they were capable of on the court. Players who previously had their performances hindered by their lack of self-confidence stepped up and performed to a high standard when it mattered most.
This season was one of learning and development, marked by our team’s ability to overcome adversity. Whatever we lacked in talent and experience, we made up for in determination and spirit.
Hopefully this development will carry on into future seasons leading to the BISS Puxi Lions finally lifting a volleyball trophy.

CISSA Football Review
This term, BISS Puxi Lions produced 10 CISSA football teams for both boys and girls ranging from year 5 to 9. All teams produced some outstanding team performances and very memorable experiences. With a compact and busy training schedule, each team focused on the same basic principles of play to ensure continuity between the age groups as well as an attempt to instil a mentality to play the game 'the right way'.
The term was concluded with some excellent performances at the Cross River Events which exhibited the level at which our players are performing at.
I can honestly say this has been both a very enjoyable and successful term of CISSA football which has given us a great platform to push once again for next season.
My sincere thanks to the players, supporting parents and of course every member of coaching staff who gave their time and contributed their input.
