For the final day of our Chinese New Year Celebrations, the events were the most prominent as they involved the participation of every individual in the entire school, be it staff or students.
Out of the four celebrations throughout the day, today’s most ’visible celebration is that all students in our school were wearing red – the symbolic colour of China, also known by the Chinese to bring luck to all.
Adding on to this, each and every one of the school’s community was given a treat to bring home - a Hong Bao – which is a red packet filled with money, but instead, the surprise was that it was coins made of chocolate.
Besides that, Year 8 and 9 students were privileged to watch a Chinese comedy movie “CF7”, which illustrates the journey of a boy and an alien.
The most awesome event of all came at the very end of the week, where we were all herded to the quad for the final event of the week. I was surprised to see that, after a countdown, three strips of Chinese firecrackers were lit at the same time, creating a mesmerising scene as the students gasped at the moment. The two weeks of celebrations rounded off with a spectacular day! I hereby also wish you a happy Chinese New Year!
