The standard was incredibly high and Miss Kane, Miss Rakowski and Mr Davies were truly impressed with everyone who auditioned.
They the extremely difficult task of narrowing these 50 students down to just five, but after a lot of lengthy discussions they came to a unanimous final decision. Their audition tapes will be sent to Nord Anglia Education to be judged by a global panel and then three of the five will be selected to go to New York this summer as part of the Global Orchestra.
The five successful students were chosen based on a range of criteria including their contribution to music in school, their attitude and passion for music and of course their talent.
We are very pleased to announce that our five Musical Ambassadors are:
- Leon Palmgren 6B (voice)
- Silvia Cassaneli 7S (voice)
- Angela Leung 9I (violin)
- Victoria Sze 12I (cello and clarinet)
- Helena Smith 12P (voice)
The final three musical ambassadors will be announced on Monday 20 April.
The Global Orchestra will be an annual collaboration between the Nord Anglia Education schools and so everyone who auditioned this year but didn’t get chosen should keep working hard at their music and try again next year!
As well as the Global Orchestra being a great opportunity for our musicians, there is also one spot for a student journalist to go to New York this summer and report on the event. Their role will be to work with a professional communications team to produce promotional materials, write articles and produce films to cover the event.
This is a fantastic opportunity for any student considering a career in journalism or the media, and enhances the journalism programme we have been running through our Global Classroom.
