The children really enjoyed taking a journey into the past and finding out about what life was like in Shanghai during the 1920s.
We walked through an old market and saw lots of old houses, shops and stalls. We visited a blacksmiths, a cotton factory and an old tea house. It was very interesting to compare the old houses of Shanghai to the modern ones that we live in today.
The children learned how materials including cotton and fabric were made in the past and they will be investigating different materials in their Science lessons. The children will also be weaving and sewing cotton fabric squares with different patterns and designs in the Art class to make a large collage quilt.
The children were extremely well behaved throughout the whole day and represented the school very well. Many thanks to all of the parent helpers who attended the trip.
