The performance of the Splendid Theatre Company on Wednesday and Thursday was equally impressive and it is always inspiring to see people performing at such a high level. These experiences create excitement and provide our students with evidence that, in all walks of life including the performing arts: “Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of intelligent effort” John Ruskin.
Our collaboration with the world renowned Juilliard School in New York is an exciting new dimension for BISS Puxi. We are committed as you know to helping others to thrive and to be the best they can be. We seek to do this day in day out in the classroom. We also have lots of local partnerships with high quality organisations who enhance what we have on offer in terms of extra-curricular activities through our British International School Community Activity Programme (BISCAP) which has grown year on year since it began in 2011. Furthermore the family of Nord Anglia Education premium schools (currently 35) provides a lot of extended education opportunities through the Global Classroom and the Nord Anglia University.
The collaboration with Juilliard is further evidence of the massive benefits of being part of a large organisation. It is the first collaboration of this type that Juilliard has entered into and it has the potential to provide our students with opportunities to explore the highest levels of performance in music, drama and dance and develop their own performance skills. We have some very talented performing artists amongst our student body and it is important that we give them the opportunity to pursue their passions. Initially the programme will be focussed on music in the curriculum, but will quickly develop to provide drama and dance opportunities and will progress to weekend and after school provisions as well as summer programmes. This collaboration with Juilliard is a long term relationship and the first of a number of similar global collaborations with other leading educational institutions, and I look forward to introducing further similar initiatives to you over the next few years.
At the beginning of each term I remind parents that we are very keen to hear from you if you would like to get more involved in the work of the school. You may wish to get involved in helping with reading in the primary school. You may be able to offer work experience opportunities to some of our secondary students. You may wish to get involved in our community service programme or support the Parents and Teachers’ Association in their work. You may be looking for a full or part time job. However you would like to contribute, please get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will put you in contact with the right people here at school.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the 10th Anniversary Garden Party on Saturday.
