Year 5 Visit The Science and Technology Museum

06 May 2015

Last week, our Year 5 students went on a trip to the Science and Technology Museum as part of their themed learning unit on ‘Space’. Some of them have written about their trip, telling us what they did, what they learnt and some of their favourite things about the museum…

On Tuesday, the intrepid explorers of Year 5 headed across to Pudong to go to the Science and Technology Museum and embark on the next stage of our learning journey.

We learned so much about space travel and what an astronaut needs in order to survive in space.  We went into the specially designed space theatre to watch the movie ‘Cosmic Collisions’ which told us all about the formation of the galaxy and what is out there whizzing around even now.

We were also able to have a go at some of the interactive exhibits where we found out what it was like to experience different gravitational pulls and what it was like to walk on different planets.

All in all, an amazing time was had by all!  Here are just a few of our favourite things:

“The Cosmic Collisions movie was very educational as it taught us about how the galaxy was formed by planets crashing into each other.”

“The spinning tunnel was fun because the lights were spinning so it felt like you were spinning.”

“The tilting room was good because it felt like it was a ship crashing.”

“The robots were cool because we learnt how things we use are created by them”
