Singing in the Rain

01 July 2015

New York has been experiencing the same wet weather as Shanghai recently with our Global Orchestra students having to perform their Up On The Roof concert in a school gym. This didn't ‘dampen’ spirits with the atmosphere warm, friendly and all of the students encouraging each other to perform their solos.

The group has also been fortunate to view some of the sights of New York by spending 14 hours visiting Grand Central Station, Times Square, Central Park to name but a few.

Images from the past few days.

But it was time to get back to ‘work’ again with the students spending a day at The Juilliard School of Performing Arts where the students engaged in 3 different sessions run by Juilliard teachers, students and alumni. This was great preparation for the upcoming concert in the Juilliard School which will be featured later this week on our blog site.

In the meantime, we asked our students what their highlights were from the 14 hour sightseeing excursion.

Helena: We walked all over the city yesterday, looking at all the great sights. Times Square was definitely a highlight, it made me feel like I was living in a film.

Silvia: I really enjoyed the bright lights that were on the big buildings in Times Square, it looked like a rainbow had just exploded and landed on the buildings.

Leon: The best thing about sightseeing was gazing at the Statue of Liberty when we were on the boat. However, it was pretty cold but at least I had a jacket. I bought an umbrella, some M and M’s and some Lego!
