Nursery Book and Poetry Celebrations

01 December 2016

The Nursery children were fully involved in last week’s book and poetry celebrations. Our main focus poem of the week was Humpty Dumpty. We had a lot of fun making props and acting out this poem.

All of the classes investigated what would happen if a real egg were to fall off a wall. Each child then carefully put an egg into a pot of water to be boiled and we gained first-hand knowledge of  change from the cooking process.

We also had a great time making costumes for ourselves and the senior members of staff. Miss Jess looked wonderful in her Miss Muffet outfit. She did a brilliant job of acting the poem out to many of the children in the primary school. Ms Hollins wore an outfit for the poem Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed but then remembered there is a real Doctor in the school. We called Dr Hopkin who was keen for us to visit his office where he did a very entertaining job of acting this poem out much to the enjoyment of the 28 nursery children present. Many of the costumes made by the children are now on display in the Foundation Stage. Please do come and visit.
