Year 1 Have Fun on the Rooftop Garden

22 February 2016

The sun was shining, the sky was blue and so it was a great day to introduce 1I and 1P to our new Forest Schools classes on the rooftop garden! Mindful of the cool temperatures, we all bundled up in our coats and hats, and were excited to make our way up onto the roof. Clare and Abby were waiting for us and Forest School began!

We started by stepping carefully on the stepping stones to follow Clare to basecamp, where we impressed Clare with our very grown up listening skills and great ideas about playing safely outdoors. During our lesson, we hunted for ladybugs, counted sticks and stones, added numbers together and added them again finding really big numbers!

We removed some plants from the garden to prepare for future plantings and we explored our new surroundings.  We found snail shells, interesting plants and got our hands dirty in the soil.

We are certainly all excited to see what more interesting things we will do in our future Forest School sessions and we will certainly let you know!
