BISS Puxi Battle of The Bands 2016

03 May 2016

From the 15 to the 22 of April, BISS Puxi held its first battle of the bands competition.

  • Battle of the bands
  • Battle of the bands
  • Battle of the bands
  • Battle of the bands
  • Battle of the bands
  • Battle of the bands

The event was a huge success with 7 bands participating from both Primary and Secondary with over 25 talented pupils all ready to entertain the audiences. Students really enjoyed their favorite songs being played and got into the rocking mood, screaming while fist pumping their arms in the air with excitement.

The event was held over 6 lunchtime periods with each band performing three songs in a 15-minute slot. On the last day, all the bands came together and gave a fantastic performance to all of KS3 and some KS2 classes. Awards were handed out based on student votes and discussions from the Music department.

The winners of the awards were as follows:

·         Best Band - Ish

·         Best Song – Maps by Crazy Music Nation

·         Joint Best Guitarist – Andrew Lucas and Hung Ju Youh

·         Best Bassist – Mika Matthe

·         Best Drummer – Cian Choo

·         Joint Best Vocalist – Claudia Jolly and Silvia Cassanelli

·         Best Dressed – Chaehyeon Lee

·         Best Hairstyle – Alistair Choo

·         Most Improved – The Primary Band

·         Most Committed – Crazy Music Nation

All of the students have put in a lot of time, effort and the results were definitely evident of that as the quality of the students musicianship and chemistry were amazing, a big growth since the start of the year! Due to the success and popularity of the event, more bands have started to form so expect even more bands and awards next year!
