What a Fabulous Day for a Trip to the Park

21 April 2017

After last week’s rain, Reception were very lucky to have such a sunny day as we explored our local area in Zhudi Park.

We have been learning so much about the Great Outdoors by planting seeds, looking after plants, and ensuring animals have everything they need to survive and thrive in their habitats, that we were more than prepared for a fantastic day in the park.

Of course we LOVED the bus journey to and from the park, ensuring we were safe with our seatbelts on and water bottles full. We then had a close competition to see who could spot the most things from our map of the park and cooled off with some water in the shade.

We made pictures using natural materials – just call us Andy Goldsworthy from now on! – and sketched our favourite things we’d seen.

Some children in the Bear Cubs class made music; “Listen to this! This branch is so loud!!...and this one is different!” – Ewan and found that some trees had different layers, with different colours! “Miss Marshall! Here, the tree is white!” – Kevin.

We did leaf rubbings, found more colours of leaves than we thought was possible and had a great time playing with our friends.

Lunchtime was great, with picnic blankets out and the sun shining on us.

Thank you to all of our helpers and teachers for making our trip so fun!

Alison Marshall, Reception Class Teacher
