Orange Affairs

27 April 2017

This week the Dutch King Willem-Alexander celebrates his 50th birthday and all Dutch speaking students in Shanghai were invited to celebrate this milestone with him.

Especially since we met the king in person in October 2015 , the students from Shanghai Dutch School were very keen to join in! On Sunday April 23 our Shanghai Dutch School co-hosted the Orange Market, an Orange Fair for the Dutch community in Shanghai. The weather was great, the food was good and the colour was…. Orange! The students enjoyed the various traditional games we set up, such as: ‘The Royal Butler Race’, ‘Willem’s Dress up Party’ and ‘Catch a Cookie’.

Furthermore students from Shanghai Dutch School at BISS Puxi were invited by the Dutch Consul-General Anneke Adema to sing the National Anthem on the King’s Day Reception, organised by the Dutch consulate. Long live the King!
