We Learn in Our Play!

02 February 2018

The children in Year One have had some wonderful opportunities over the last few weeks to extend their learning from the classroom into their play.

  • We Learn in Our Play!

During their choosing time they have been presented with a series of tailored activities and challenges, that are planned to enhance their development across the curriculum.

The areas now includes a range of activities in ICT, Construction, Role Play, Writing, Reading and Junk Modelling. The children have expressed their appreciation through their actions and their words

“I like ICT because we like to type.” Phil, Year 1 Student.

“The Role Play is fun because we can pretend” Elisabetta 1, Year 1 Student.

“I like to help my friends with writing” Yuno 1, Year 1 Student.

Each activity is both achievable but also challenging.  These experiences encourage our Year One children to take on independence in their learning.  The teachers in Year One love to see the children making new bold steps in their development, whilst smiling and thinking abstractly at the same time.

The only question is, what will we be learning next week? Make sure to ask the children!
