Week Beginning 23 May 2016

Next year: As the end of year is approaching we are already beginning planning for the new classes next year. However, this is a long and complicated process. Please be aware that information about new classes and teachers will not be available for several weeks, but we do aim to be able to share this with you before the end of term. We aim to provide stability in moving complete classes to the next year group whenever possible. When classes have to be altered we use our detailed knowledge of the children and consider carefully friendships, gender and nationality. As decisions are based on the number of children in each year group, please help us by confirming your intentions for next year to , if you have not already done so. Thank you for your patience and support.

  • Please label all school uniform, snack boxes and water bottle to avoid items getting lost in school. Every child needs to have a water bottle to bring in each day. No glass containers please.
  • In the Summer Term, please ensure children wear sun hats on hot days to protect them when playing outside.

This week the children will be linking their Literacy learning to Science, as part of Science Week. The children will be using their research, skimming and scanning skills to retrieve facts about Alexander Fleming. They will then be using this information to construct a set of questions, which will be turned into an online Kahoot Quiz.

The children will be continuing to work with multiplication and division, including applying their skills to solve problems. They will be consolidating their knowledge and understanding of HTU X U and TU X U. A further focus will be the quick mental recall of multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 times tables.

This week is Science Week! Year 3 will be finding out about Alexander Fleming and his investigations. The children will have a very hands-on practical approach to science, taking part in lots of different experiments over the course of the week, which will link to their previous learning on variables and light.

The children will be working in teams this week, sharing ideas and listening to others points of view.
