Week Beginning 8 June 2015

On Friday 19 June the Year 3 children will be presenting a showcase of their work on ‘Chocolate’ in the Year 3 corridor. This will run from 2.45pm onwards until 3.30pm. The children have all chosen their favourite pieces of work from this term and we invite all parents to come along and enjoy. The children have worked really hard this term and can’t wait to show you all their learning! We hope to see you.

This week in Literacy the children will be learning about complex instructions. They will be following instructions, looking at their key features and then recording their own instructions using microphones.


In Maths the children will be extending their knowledge of writing and calculating mathematical statements for multiplication and division, using the multiplication tables that they know. This will include two-digit numbers times one-digit numbers, using mental and written methods.

This week in Art the children will be painting and decorating their 3D chocolate bars. At the end of the week the children will reflect on their own and one another’s work providing kind, specific and helpful feedback.

De  ‘Hoe-overleef-ik-Azië-gids’ begint al echt vorm te krijgen. De komende weken werken de leerlingen zelfstandig aan het afronden van hun artikelen.

De komende twee weken worden de Cito-toetsen afgenomen. U kunt uw zoon en/of dochter niet voor deze toetsen voorbereiden. De toetsen meten de voortgang die de leerling gemaakt heeft op het gebied van spelling, woordenschat en technisch lezen in de afgelopen 4 maanden. Zorg er wel voor dat uw kind goed uitgerust is.

Next week we will be continuing our last topic all about clothes. We will be learning new vocabulary and talking about what we wear. Could pupils please bring in some old items of clothes which we will use to design our own games using the new vocabulary.
Homework is to look for new words associated with clothes within the puzzle. 

Year 3 / 4 French – Mrs Rae

Next week in French we will be starting our final unit Le Cirque. We will be exploring all the countries that speak French, finding their locations on maps as well as revisiting colours and different types of clothing.
