The children will be completing planning their stories before writing them up, ensuring the use of high quality devices to enhance the narrative. Particular focus will be on the use of ‘Show not Tell’ language which we have focused on using intensively over the last few weeks. The children will review each other’s work, suggesting the strengths of the stories, and how they could improve them. Finally, they will edit and publish the stories so everyone has access to the great work that they have produced.

We will be reviewing negative numbers and fractions this week. Activities will involve problem solving to enable the students to reinforce skills with counting backwards through zero and recognising negative numbers in practical situations. The review of fractions will involve working with non-unit fractions and calculating simple quantities. Some children will start to add fractions with denominators of different values.

This week in Science the children will be conducting the experiments that they planned last week and discussing which materials they think will keep a drink cool. In Art we will continue to focus on using watercolours to paint landscapes or buildings using the photographs that the children took during our visit to She Shan National Park.

Students will continue to create computer coding to create games.

Literacy: edit, improve, suggest, publish, illustrate.

Maths: zero, negative, temperature, numerator, denominator, value, common factor.

Themed Learning: insulators, materials, properties, warm, cold, prediction, conclusion.
