Year 4 Explorers Event - Friday 17 June - 9.00 - 10.30.

MESSAGES

  • Please label all school uniform, snack boxes and water bottle to avoid items getting lost in school. Every child needs to have a water bottle to bring in each day. No glass containers please.
  • In the Summer Term, please ensure children wear sun hats on hot days to protect them when playing outside.

LITERACY

This week, the students will be finishing off their work about Anders Celsius and combining this with playscripts.

Additionally, we will be recapping our reading comprehension skills, revisiting the idea of information retrieval and inference.

MATHS

This week, we shall be reviewing skills from the Year 4 curriculum. There will be a focus on number work and problem solving in unfamiliar situations. The children will be encouraged to explain their thinking and notice patterns and relationships. To further their understanding puzzles and enrichment activities will also be used.

THEMED LEARNING

‘Explorers’

The children will be continuing to think about planning their own expedition. Having previously thought about where to go to and which equipment to take, they will begin to plan and create a shelter structure in miniature.

COMPUTING

Students will continue to create computer coding to create games. Over the rest of this term, classes will work with Lego Wedo on a rotation, to create adventure activities to accompany their stories. They will learn to use sensors and apply skills to create their own models.

VOCABULARY

Literacy: Comprehension, understanding, information, retrieval, inference

Maths: Whole number, digit, integer, fraction, decimal, place value, estimate

Themed Learning: structure, stability, adaptable, functional, comfortable

DUTCH

Superhelden

Stel je voor... je moeder zit in de gevangenis, maar je weet zeker dat ze onschuldig is. De gevangenis  staat op een streng bewaakt eilandje in de Waddenzee. En aan je vader heb je niks, want die zit van de stress de hele dag te gamen. Wat doe je dan?

Dan bedenk je een onwaarschijnlijk reddingsplan!

Het laatste thema gaat over superhelden. Niet alleen die van de tv, met capes en superkrachten, maar juist de helden onder ons. Wat maakt jou een held? Ken je een held in de familie? Hoe kun je een held worden?

Deze week werken we verder aan onze dagboekfragmenten. Ook starten we met het ontwerpen van een goede ‘Superheld WervingsPoster’ en de ‘Superhelden Academie Folder’.

Bi(e)bbezoek en Estafette

Denk aan het meenemen van de bi(e)bboeken op maandag (Year 3, 5 en 6) en dinsdag (Year 4). Estafette doen we op maandag (Year 3, 5 en 6) en donderdag (Year 4).

Next week we shall be starting a new topic all about hobbies and what we do at the weekend. The children will review days of the week and months of the year and they will learn to use a wider range of verbs in the first person. They will construct sentences using simple conjunctions.
