The Year 4 showcase afternoon will be held on the 11 June from 2:30-3:30 in your child’s classroom. The children have been very busy researching and planning their adventures to places such as Antarctica and the Amazon Rainforest and are looking forward to showing you their work.

This week the children will finalise their adventure stories. They will spend time, redrafting and editing to improve the language and create effective suspense. Then they will write up their masterpiece in neat ready for showcase day.
This week the focus will be multiplying two an three digit numbers as well as exploring division methods. The children will complete various money related problem solving activities involving multiplying and adding prices.
Children will be finalising their projects this week in preparation for their showcase day. They will begin to put together the research and data they have collated over the last couple of weeks, together with a plan of their jacket design, adventure stories and any addition independent work they have chose to include.
The scientific content will involve the children gathering their findings if the experiments they have carried out over the last couple of weeks and designing an appropriate jacket for their expedition, explain the reasons why they chose the particular materials.
The children will be learning how to make positive choices. They will be working in small groups to complete a number of challenges that test their ability to work effectively in a team.

De ‘Hoe-overleef-ik-Azië-gids’ begint al echt vorm te krijgen. De komende weken werken de leerlingen zelfstandig aan het afronden van hun artikelen.
De komende twee weken worden de Cito-toetsen afgenomen. U kunt uw zoon en/of dochter niet voor deze toetsen voorbereiden. De toetsen meten de voortgang die de leerling gemaakt heeft op het gebied van spelling, woordenschat en technisch lezen in de afgelopen 4 maanden. Zorg er wel voor dat uw kind goed uitgerust is.

Next week we will be continuing our last topic all about clothes. We will be learning new vocabulary and talking about what we wear. Could pupils please bring in some old items of clothes which we will use to design our own games using the new vocabulary.
Homework is to look for new words associated with clothes within the puzzle.
Year 3 / 4 French – Mrs Rae
Next week in French we will be starting our final unit Le Cirque. We will be exploring all the countries that speak French, finding their locations on maps as well as revisiting colours and different types of clothing.

Year 4 French – Miss Wood
Next week we shall be continuing to focus on daily life. The children will learn to express more complex times, such as five to and twenty past the hour and they will learn new vocabulary to express the order of events. The children will explain how to prepare breakfast and what is typically eaten for breakfast in France.
