Please join us for our International Week Parade on Friday 25 March. The children can come to school dressed to represent a country of their choice. Face paint and flags are warmly encouraged. The parade will start at 9am and we would love to see you there.

  • Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to share delicious food from their home country!  We (the children and certainly the teachers) are greatly looking forward to the International Week Food Fair which will be on Tuesday 22 March for Year 5 pupils.

  • Please note that no homework will be issued before the holiday. However your child may wish to take part in the many activities that are on the Global Campus. Pupils can access this by logging onto:

This week in Literacy we will be continuing our author study of Shaun Tan and using his illustrations and picture books as a stimulus for our descriptive  writing. We will be thinking about old, abandoned objects from a rubbish dump, selecting one and creating a back story for how the object came to arrive in the dump. Our grammar focus continues to be relative clauses to extend our sentences.  We will also compare and contrast Shaun Tan with our favourite author.

This week in Maths we will be turing our attention to data.  We will consult how to collect and present data in the most approptiate way.  We will discover what types of data there are and how we use data in our daily lives.  Later in the week we will ensure that our presentation of data is clear and accurate in various forms including bar charts, line graphs and pie charts.  We will then interpret what the charts mean and display them  in our class rooms.

This week we will be reflecting on the Learning Showcase and all of our topic work that we completed this term. We will look back at our question board to see if we have answered the questions that we asked at the beginning of the topic. We will add to our knowledge grids and answer any questions that we still have not found the answer to. In addition to this we will also be taking part in a variety of International Week activities that will be focused around the theme of Asia. Each year group will focus on a different contininent and Year 5 will will be extending their knowledge of Asian culture and art through a variety of exciting activities.
