In Literacy this week we will be finishing our fantastic unit of work on Shakespeare’s Macbeth that the children have enjoyed so much. We will move on to looking at the terrible crime that is at the heart of Macbeth and use our knowledge of mystery writing to investigate the suspects, evidence and witnesses. We will finish by writing a police report that highlights exactly what has been going on at Macbeth’s castle.

In Maths this week we will be learning about symmetry. We will consider several forms of symmetry, building to complex rotational patterns and Mandalas. We will then complete a series of investigations to consolidate our knowledge and draw on other subject areas we have covered this term.

This week we will be reflecting on the Learning Showcase and all of our topic work that we completed this term. In addition to this we will also be taking part in a variety of International Week activities that will be focused around the theme of South America. Each year group will focus on a different continent and Year 6 will be extending their knowledge of South American culture and art through a variety of exciting activities, particularly focusing on the Amazon River.

In PSHCE this week we will continue to focus on fostering new relationships as we have had a number of new students join our year group, creating rules and expectations for the classes and how to work together successfully.  We will reflect on what we achieved last term and discuss new personal targets for the term ahead.

Literacy – hurly-burly, heath, thane, fair and foul, rapt

Maths– symmetry, rotation, Mandala

Themed Learning- Amazon, jungle, piranha, river dolphin, pollution
