We have a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) so students can access resources for work in and out of school. A VLE is a web platform that students, parents and teachers can log into to find details of work and resources to help with learning.
Our VLE is called Moodle. Its address is puxi.learn.nae.school, and passwords are issued to students and parents. It provides an online environment for every class taught, where details of courses, homework, textbooks, summaries of lessons and other resources are made available.
Details of primary and secondary homework are both posted on Moodle. Secondary students have lots of classes, however, and it can be time consuming to go through all the classes for an individual student to find tonight's work. To help with this, we send a summary email to all secondary students and parents.
Our Daily Information Network (ODIN)
We send details of homework and summaries of lessons each day by email to secondary parents and students, so that parents may stay engaged with the work their sons and daughters are tackling. Details of how to sign up to receive these daily emails are sent separately. These emails arrive before 5 pm every day, and provide a quick digest of what's happened in school, customised for each individual student. We're delighted if parents use these to get involved with their children, engaging them in discussions about the work they've done that day. The more students talk about work, the more it builds understanding.
