We are currently working on class lists for 2017-18 and will share these with you during the week beginning 12 June.
As is our practice, we aim to provide stability for our students by moving them up with their existing classes where possible, while also taking account to ensure that classes are balanced. Following the issue of the class lists, it will be possible to meet with Ms Jess should you have any questions. However, we ask for your trust in us that that all decisions taken are in the best interests of all the children and your understanding that we cannot meet requests of individual parents.
- Please ensure your child brings a hat to school each day. Outdoor play is an essential part of our children’s day and we need to ensure they are protected from the sun. If you would like sun cream on your child please put it on them before they come to school on a morning.
- If you have any old pots and pans we could use for our music wall, please send them in.
- Garden Party: We look forward to seeing lots of you at our Garden Party this Saturday 10 June 1-4pm.
- Wanted - Jumble items for Tanzania Table at the Garden Party
We are a group of Y.8 & 9 students who are busy fundraising for the projects we will support in November when we travel to Tanzania on our amazing service project. We are looking for your help for contributions of second-hand toys, books and any other small unwanted household items for our Jumble Table at the Summer Garden Party. If you are leaving China or just having a Spring clean, please consider donating your unwanted items to our Tanzania Jumble Table. Please send them in to either the Primary or Secondary reception desks.
FOX AND PANTHER CLASSES
Although we have had a short week, it has been a busy one! The children have made a start on our music wall; decorating big water drums that will be hung for us create our wonderful music. This will continue into next week.
The children have also been introduced to a new app on our class iPads called Quiver. It is an app that brings to life pictures that the children have coloured and some are even interactive! The children will be introduced to other apps over the next few weeks and encouraged to use the cameras to document their own learning. There has also been a great interest in styling hair and pretending to wash it and add gel, which led on to talk about hairdressers. The children have begun to set up a hairdressing salon and will continue to enhance this by adding resources of their choice and putting them to use next week by taking appointment bookings. If you have any old shampoo bottles or even an old hairdryer you no longer need or you simply want a restyle please let us know!

MEERKAT AND WOLF CLASSES
The children loved having their parents’ wedding photos on display. They have been the topic for many conversations. We have been discussing different styles of weddings and how weddings differ between cultures. We would like to say a big thank you to Adhithan and Maanav’s mothers for coming and showing us a sari and how to put one on. The children had a lot of fun with this. To extend this further we will make an Indian style vegetable curry so that children can also compare different foods.
Exploring textures, colours and quantities has been very popular with the children making coloured rice and combining it with coloured paper and whatever else they can find to make pretend cakes and salads. We will add other materials and resources so that the children can explore this play further.
It has been lovely to see how much all of the children in both classes have matured in recent months. We have been observing their play and noticed that they are creating some games with sophisticated rules which groups of children are taking part in. We will continue to praise the children for this and extend these games by asking them to think of other rules that they might need.
The children have been interested in height and have been comparing and measuring the heights of each other. Next week we will introduce a height chart so that we can discuss vocabulary such as tall, small, tallest, smallest etc.
tall, taller, tallest, short, shorter, shortest

Ahoi maatjes!

We will continue the “Summer” theme. Children will do lots of explorations of summer fruits this week using visuals and their sense of the taste. What are summer colors? What is your favorite fruit in summer? They will paint a watermelon and make a orange ice cream stick. We will also have a fruit eating contest!
