- Welcome to Pre Nursery.
- Uniform-please remember to wear the Cubs T-shirt and bring at least three spare pairs of clothes to put in cubbies.
- Help us to keep all your child’s belongings safe by labelling everything clearly with name and class.
- Monday 21st August – ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening from 6-8pm. There will be a brief welcome followed by two sessions to enable parents with more than one child to go to both. We encourage new and exisiting parents to attend. Session 1 starts at 18:30 and Session 2 starts at 19:15.
We would like to ask that children do not attend the Meet & Greet event. The event is targeted at adults and the timing is late for the children on a school night. We fully understand that for some NEW parents, you do not yet have child care and so may have to bring your children. If you are bringing your child, please be responsible for your child at all times as they cannot be left unsupervised in school or the playground. You may want to bring something to keep them quietly occupied while the teacher is talking. Thanks for your support and understanding.
WELCOMING OUR EXISTING STUDENTS
It has been a delight to have our returning children come back to Pre Nursery and to see them explore their new environment and rekindle friendships from last year. They are already looking with great curiosity towards our new starters and making some links with them. Thankyou for your support in helping them settle.
WELCOMING OUR NEW STUDENTS
Thank you so much for the support you have given us this week with settling new children into school. Gradualy we are welcoming more of our classmates into the class and for longer periods of time. Next week some of our new children will be ready to stay for lunch. Each class teacher will speak to you individually to discuss and plan the best time frame for your child. Our main ambition is to make sure that all children develop a love of school.
LEARNING OUR NEW ROUTINES
We all know that children love and respond well to routine. During the week we have been busy making sure that the children’s cubbies, communication books, beds and lunch places are clearly labeled with their names and photos. We want children to feel a sense of belonging when they arrive at school which will continue throughout their schooling.
BECOMING FAMILIAR WITH THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
We are delighted with the new furniture and sofas that have arrived along with many new resources. We have been informed that our overseas order of furniture and resources has arrived in China so we are looking forward to having more exciting things delivered in the very near future.
We have been very impressed with how well the children are accessing experiences on offer and look forward to an exciting year ahead. We will be working with the children to encourage this independence, watching really closely what the children are most interested in so that we can follow up and extend their learning. Over the next few weeks we will make sure that the children understand simple routines with us e.g. snack time, sleep time, toilet, nappy change and drink water.
The children will be practising saying who they are: “I am” and will be listening as their friends introduce themselves as well.
