Monday 31 October is Halloween day. The Pre Nursery classes will be having a celebration. Your child is invited to wear a special costume to school on that day, any favourite costume will be great- it does not need to be a spooky outfit. Please ensure all costumes and accessories are labelled with your child’s name.
- Swimming days: if your child swims at school, please can you make sure that they are wearing leggings or trousers, and not tights. Many thanks.
- NO ECA’s, next Tuesday and Thursday, due to PTC. Children need to be collected at 3:30 or go home on the bus as usual. BISCAP and swimming will continue as normal.
- Liz Peacock, Head of Early Years Cubs will be on maternity leave from Friday 4 November. Currently she is planning to return on Monday 6 February. During her absence Miss Peacock’s teaching time will be covered by Katie Riordan who is an experienced teacher who is very familiar with life at BISS and knows Early Years well. During Miss Peacock’s leave, if you have any questions or concerns please speak first to your class teacher as usual. You may also contact our Head of Reception, Emma Lunt via email@example.com or Head of Nursery and Pre Nursery, Natalie Walker via firstname.lastname@example.org as appropriate. For any other concerns please contact Eleanor Jess, Head Teacher at email@example.com
OUR LEARNING THEME:
The children are already becoming excited about Halloween, so we will be celebrating on Monday by coming to school dressed up in our favourite costumes. We will have many fun and spooky themed activities for the children to investigate. We will explore some of the traditions associated with Halloween such as “Trick or Treat”, carving pumpkins, Halloween games, and wearing special costumes. The children will also have lots of opportunities to explore new sensory resources. They may make their own potions and mixtures, or perhaps create a mummy from tape or bandages.

LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION
Through songs, rhymes, dance and stories, we will expand our v ocabulary and sense of rhyme and rhythm. We will have fun using our voices in different ways, for example, cackling like a witch, roaring like a monster and shouting “Boo!” to scare our friends.
