MESSAGES

LITERACY

This week in Literacy, the children will continue to explore poetry.  We will be repeating and rehearsing popular poems, identifying and classifying nouns used in the poems, exploring syllables and finally working towards creating our very own poem.

KEY VOCABULARY

Questions, poetry, inference, audience, lower case, upper case, capital letters, syllables, classify, nouns.

MATHS

In Maths, the children will learn to identify a wide range of 2D shapes. They will classify them according to their properties and learn new vocabulary to describe them accurately. The children will then move onto fractions, exploring fractions of a shape: ½  and ¼

Face, edge, curved, polygon, angle, hexagon, pentagon, curcular, fraction, quarter, half, symmetrical

STEAM THEME

Buildings and Structures – The children will continue to explore the work of Laszlo Hudec as they become designers themselves. They will be designing their own building and incorporating aspects of Art Deco into their designs.

Evaluate, analyse, culture, chronology, printing, structure, design, sequence, timeline, Art Deco.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

The children will use Espresso, a coding programme, to learn how to combine start events and click events to make a simple game. They will also use Tizzy Time to continue to learn about the key board and different function keys.

PSHCE

We are teaching the children games to use in the playground. The children are learning how to work and play together collaboratively and what to do when things go wrong, when there is a disagreement or when play goes really well.

DUTCH

Deze week leggen de kinderen van year 2 de laatste hand aan hun persoonlijke groeimeter.  Naar aanleiding van het kinderboekenthema `Griezelen` hebben we het deze week over bang zijn.  We lezen het verhaal van Bang Mannetje van Mathilde Stein en Mies van Hout  en schrijven onze eigen  grote en kleine angsten neer.  Wat doe jij om je eigen angsten te overwinnen?

Tijdens de spellingslessen maken we een start met het herhalen van de tweetekenklanken.  Deze week oefenen we de  `ie` van griezelen en de  `ui` van muis!
