In literacy this week we will be beginning to look at the book ‘Millions’ to co-incide with the launch of our new topic ‘If I Ruled the World’. We will begin to get to know the characters, explore their motivations and try and look at the world from their perspective. We will then build up to writing a letter from the point of view of the children’s teacher.

In Maths this week we will be looking at angles. We will revise how to use a protractor to measure and draw angles accurately, using these skills toconstruct triangles and pentagons. We will also investigate the angles formed by intersecting lines and consider how to calculate missing angles.

This week is the second week of our exciting new topic ‘If I Ruled the World’. We will be continuing to look at the profound questions that we considered last week. We will continue to look at issues that have no clear answers and discuss how to weigh up evidence to come up with our own opinions. We will also use our deep thinking to inspire our artwork based on using digital media to create a collage.

This week we will be looking again at e-Safety, further helping the children understand how to be safe when online and how to control their own profile on the internet. We will also look at how to make safe searches and how to respond if something inapropriat is encountered.

This week the children will be reflecting on all they have learnt on camp and reflecting on what made them a good team member and how they can further develop their skills.

Year 6 French – Dr. Cattel / Mme McConnon

In next week’s lesson students will learn to form regular ‘er’ verbs in the present tense. They will also complete and record their song on the verb ‘être’. When finished, they will be teaching the year 8 French students their song.
This week for homework students have to complete the worksheet which is stuck in their exercise books on the verb ‘avoir’.

Next week we will finalise writing our comic stories for The Tortoise’s Birthday, including speech and thought bubbles.
Homework: To memorise some lines from their stories to act out in groups in class.

Next week, students will be learning the story ‘The Enormous Turnip’. They will interact with the story by acting it out, playing games and writing and guessing the next line.

Homework this week is to revise prepositions, play the öu est Charlie, board game with a member of your family. \

De leerlingen van Y5 en 6 werken aan hun fantasieverhaal bij een kunstwerk. De resultaten krijgen een plaatsje in ons Muurseum en worden afgedrukt in ‘Het Grote SDS Muurseum Voorleesboek’.
