Moving To Shanghai

Shanghai is an extraordinarily dynamic place to live that provide opportunities educationally, professionally and personally.

As a global hub you get all the comforts of home and yet, with outstanding transportation links you can be whisked away on an Asian adventure seeing, experiencing and tasting something very different from home.

Local Areas

Typically, families look at three main factors when moving to Shanghai - where to work, where their children can get a great education and where to live. Like many great cities, Shanghai is split by a river, in our case the river Huangpu.  The British International School Shanghai sits on the west (Puxi) side of the city.

You can split the west Puxi side areas into three sections.  The central business district of Jing An Temple is only 45 minutes away by school bus and is the heart of the city. It is neighboured by the leafy French Concession area home to many embassies, cafes and restaurants. For those who enjoy city life, this is the place to be.

Our catchment area spreads west around the Changning, Hongqiao and Gubei areas. They are all very well served by metro lines 2 and 10 that act as an artery between the city centre and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Finally, the areas of Minhang and Qingpu around the school are very popular for families with active children that, having completed the school day will be back in engaging in sports and extra curricular activities. In the evenings and at the weekends the school remains a hive of activity for parents and children to enjoy being together.
