Assistant Head of Primary (Key Stage 2)

Chris graduated from the University of South Wales in 2014 with BA Honours in Primary Education and shortly afterwards began his career at a large multi-cultural school in Newport, Wales. He worked here for 4 years as a class teacher and held responsibilities as Leader of Digital Learning & Physical Education Coordinator, before being seconded to the Education Achievement Service as a Mathematics Teacher Adviser. During this role, Chris works in close partnership with all schools in the South East Wales consortium to raise standards in Mathematics & Numeracy across a range of age groups. Earlier this year, Chris completed his Masters in Educational Practice degree at Cardiff University which has provided him with a wealth of experience around teaching and learning.

Chris highly values the importance of extra-curricular activities, enabling learners to gain a breadth of experiences which can unlock individual talents. He is a motivational teacher whose personal mantra “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you” is often infectious, helping both learners and staff to thrive and maximise their full potential. He cannot wait to be a part of the BISS Puxi team in Shanghai.

Outside of school, Chris is an absolute sports fanatic. From a very young age he has played a range of sports at a high level, most notably going through the schoolboy ranks at Cardiff City Football Club. Whilst still playing football competitively, he has also developed a huge passion for golf, now playing with a single-figure handicap. Chris is hoping to find a football team that he can join in Shanghai, as well as a nearby golf course. He is looking forward to living and working in China and exploring the surrounding countries.
