Cheryl McMillan

Cheryl McMillan

Year 4 Class Teacher

Cheryl is a graduate of Glasgow University, UK, where she gained a MA (Hons) degree in Anthropology and Sociology. Inspired by her degree, Cheryl decided to travel internationally gaining teaching experience in South Korea. It was here she found her love for teaching so decided to come back to the UK to study for her Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education.

After graduating, Cheryl taught in two primary schools based in Scotland. During this time, she had the opportunity to work with children from a range of backgrounds. These invaluable experiences shaped her inclusive teaching philosophy that values cultural diversity and encourages children to embrace their unique individualities. As well as teaching, she is also studying to gain a Master’s Degree (MEd) in Education Studies from the University of Strathclyde, UK. Cheryl carried out a Masters level research project to accelerate learning in her classroom.

Cheryl is an adventurous person who has a passion for travel and a drive to fully immerse herself into a culture different from her own. She has travelled throughout Europe and Asia and is looking forward to settling in Shanghai with her husband. Cheryl has a strong global outlook and is keen to develop her skills in an international setting. She is looking forward to embarking on a new stage of her teaching career and is thrilled to be joining the team at BISS Puxi.
