BSc (Hons I), PGCE, Dip Psych, OLY
After completing her first degree in Physical Education and Sport Science at Loughborough University, Michelle then qualified as a primary school teacher by completing a PGCE at Sheffield Hallam University. For many years, she combined teaching part-time with training as a professional athlete, before focusing solely on her teaching career. Michelle also completed a second degree in Psychology to further her knowledge of child development.
Since retiring from athletics, Michelle has taught for a number of years, predominantly in Derby City, where she also worked as an Assistant Principal prior to leaving the UK and moving to Shanghai. Since joining BISS Puxi two years ago, Michelle has taught in both Year 2 and Year 6, and is now excited to be returning to work in Year 1, where she started her career, and also to take up the position of Year Leader.
Following her previous career as a sports person, Michelle always endeavours to stay as fit and active as possible; though combining this with work and having a toddler is always a challenge! She enjoys running, going to the gym and has also tried a number of new sports in recent years, including netball and triathlon. Michelle also loves to travel and since moving to Shanghai, has taken the opportunity to travel to many parts of Asia, although she still has much of China to see! Her son, Leo, will start in Pre-Nursery this year and he is excited to be joining the Early Years Cubs at BISS.
