Matthew Sheridan

Year 3 Teacher

Matthew Sheridan

BSc. (Hons), GTP

Matthew completed a degree in Anthropology at University College London, and then trained as a primary teacher through the Graduate Teacher Programme. He taught in the UK for a total of five years, which included leading Mathematics and ICT. Internationally, he has worked in Moscow and has six years experience teaching in China, in Beijing and Ningbo.

Matthew is interested in practical learning, especially in Science and Maths, and cross-curricular learning focused on History or Geography. From the start, his career has centred around ICT, and he enjoys teaching basic robotics, and the coding and producing of video games. The emphasis on STEAM learning partly inspired his move to BISS. His core teaching value is the development of talent and expertise, and how that with the right guidance, and a plenty of practice, all children can make good progress.

In his free time, Matthew enjoys the triathlon sports – either individually, or as a full triathlon, and other outdoor pursuits such as mountain biking and kayaking. He also enjoys taking his daughter, Emily, to visit new places with his wife, Eva, and they are looking forward to exploring all the interesting venues Shanghai has to offer together.
