BA (Hons) Geography & Archaeology, PGCE Geography & Education
Cliodhna has a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Archaeology from the National University of Ireland, Galway. She then completed her PGCE through the University of Cumbria and spent six years teaching in Colchester, Essex at Colchester County High School for Girls, a selective state grammar school.
During her time in the UK, Cliodhna was both Head of Critical Thinking and Head of Geography for three years simultaneously, and then, during the latter two years she was focused on her role as Head Geography. Since August 2018, Cliodhna has been the Head of Geography at BISS Puxi. As a teacher of Geography, she enjoys the challenge of preparing and equipping young people with the critical thinking skills to examine contentious, complex and contemporary world issues. Much of what we do as geographers lends itself to mitigating for the future and Cliodhna enjoys instilling a sense of empowerment within young people, so that they have a voice and can contribute to innovative solutions. Underpinning her own educational values, she aims to instill young people with a strong sense of integrity, confidence and courage to be who they are.
In her spare time, Cliodhna enjoys exploring the amazing food culture the city of Shanghai has to offer and enjoy exploring different areas of the city by bike. Shanghai is an excellent launchpad to explore South East Asia, and she has enjoyed travelling in many fantastic destinations; some of her favourite destinations to date have been Japan and the Philippines.
