Staff Profile: Joanna Yardy

Joanna Yardy

Head of Aquatics

Joanna graduated from the University of Bedfordshire with a BA (Hons) degree in Physical Education Secondary QTS. Joanna began her teaching career at Neale Wade Academy in March, Cambridgeshire. She left after two years to teach at Newmarket Academy in Newmarket, Suffolk where she was responsible for leading dance and promoted swimming within the school. Joanna was promoted to an Achievement Leader working as part of a house team to drive progress. She believes in creating an environment which is student centred where students are leading their own learning and enjoys sharing her passion for Physical Activity, in particular swimming.


Joanna has many years’ experience teaching swimming from babies to adults and has coached competitive swimmers up to National level. She also had success in dance with a competition group at her last school where they reached the National Finals in London.

Joanna enjoys a wide range of sports, in particular swimming and dance. She competed up to National level in swimming and currently competes at master’s level. She also enjoys doing ballet and other forms of dance. During the holidays she enjoys travelling with her husband and experiencing new cultures.
