Rosalind Victoria O’Shea

Rosalind studied a Sports Degree at Leeds Polytechnic and a PGCE at Exeter University. Her PE teaching career began in London, but three years in an American School leading sports teams and trips around Europe, gave her the thirst to spread her wings. This led her to the Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur, then on to Bangkok Patana, where she became Assistant Head of Years 8 and 9. She has coached a wide variety of FOBISIA, SEASAC and ISST sports teams, as well as, teaching Drama and introducing dance to various school curriculums.

Most recently, Rosalind has been a Head of Department for Health Education at a school in New Zealand. She is a passionate advocate for health and well-being, and more recently has worked with vulnerable adolescents and sick children, supporting them with their education whilst they face their personal struggles. Rosalind has been fortunate enough to work in different countries, with different curriculums, bringing experience and an ongoing passion for working with children.

Rosalind loves to travel and explore new places, so returning to the international school system, especially in such an exciting place as Shanghai, is a dream come true. She has lived in New Zealand for fifteen years where she met her Canadian husband Chris, who will be teaching Computing Science at BISS. She is also accompanied by her two children, Ruby and Charlie, who are excited about joining BISS as primary school students. Rosalind has always loved both participating in and watching sports, particularly hockey, which she has played to premiership level, but is now a passionate CrossFit participant. She loves to go camping, tramping and biking and is a keen rugby supporter - her playing days finished a long time ago!
