Application Process

We’re delighted that you’re interested in BIS Hanoi and we hope to welcome you soon to our community. If you would like to apply for a place at BIS for your child, our friendly admissions team will guide and support you through the following process:

1 - Enquiry

2 - School tour (guided virtual tours available)

3 - Online application

4 - Assessment and interview

5 - Offer

Step 1: Enquiry

Please fill in the short enquiry form HERE and our dedicated admissions team will get back to you within 24 hours (local time, Monday to Friday) to answer your questions and share further information about our school.

Step 2: School tour

We encourage your family to visit our contemporary campus to observe first-hand our learning in action, meet our academic team and explore our facilities. We also offer virtual campus tours for parents who are unable to visit us in person or during school closure times.

Your tour of the school will be led by our Admissions team and in addition to seeing our outstanding facilities, you will also meet with members of our senior leadership team and visit classes to see what and how our students are learning.

Step 3: Online application

Our online application form is available HERE and the following supplementary documents are required:

  • Application Fee

  • Signed Admission Contract

  • 2 current passport photographs of the student

  • Copy of student’s passport or birth certificate

  • Medical Record and Immunization Record

  • Physical Evaluation signed by a doctor

  • Most recent school records in English (translated where applicable)

  • Learning Support assessment documentation (where applicable)

You can find more information here.

Step 4: Assessment and interview

Upon receipt of these documents, your child will be invited for an assessment and personal interview with our Head of Primary or Secondary School. These allows us to ensure we can meet your child’s learning needs and offer the appropriate level of support and challenge to their learning. The assessment your child will undertake depends upon the age of your child:

  • Early Years students (Foundation 1 – 3) will participate in a class observation.

  • Year 1 students will undertake an EAL test and class observation

  • Year 2 students will undertake an EAL test and a personal interview with Head of Primary

  • Year 3 – 6 students will take a writing test, CAT Computer test, an EAL test and a personal interview with the Head of Primary.

  • Year 7 – 9 students will take a writing test, CAT Computer test and a personal interview with the Head of Secondary.

  • Year 10 – 12 students will take a writing test, Maths test, CAT Computer test and a personal interview with the Head of Secondary.

If you reside overseas, or the school is closed to visitors due to government directives (eg social distancing measures), assessments and interviews will be conducted virtually.

Step 5: Offer

A place will only be offered for a child when all of the required documents are submitted to the Admissions Department and the Application Fee has been paid.

You will receive a formal offer letter of a place from the school and our Terms & Conditions (see below). Each offer of a school place must be accepted within two weeks after which it is automatically withdrawn and may be offered to another family. Upon acceptance, parents must pay a non-refundable Registration Fee to guarantee the place for the student. The acceptance of a school place is not confirmed until the Registration Fee has been paid. Each offer of a school place will include a date for the child to start school. Places cannot be held beyond this date without the payment of the relevant tuition fees.

If we are not able to offer your child a place as our classes are full, we will give you the option of joining a waiting list for the appropriate year group.
