“Be Ambitious” at BIS Hanoi

20 November 2015

This week has seen us “Be Ambitious” at BIS Hanoi. The Secondary School’s Challenge Day “Dragons’ Den” was a phenomenal success. We are a school that believes in challenging our students in so many different ways and are not afraid to do so. The students gain so much from these kinds of days. The enjoyment and enthusiasm that they showed throughout the day was clearly evident as they rose to the challenge of the “Dragons” and I was proud of every one of them. Thank you to everyone who contributed so much and in particular, Ms Rachel Stevenson for coordinating it all. Special thanks go to two of our parents, Ms. Nguyen Dao Tuyet Nga and Mr. Andrew Nisbet for giving up their valuable time to come and act as Business Advisors.

On Monday, it was a pleasure to watch our KS4 boys and girls play their first basketball match of the year. It was a tough first game for them against two strong UNIS teams. Although we lost both games but they were closely contested and our students showed such perseverance; indeed, they were true “BIS Lionhearts”.

In December, we will be welcoming to the school two representatives from the International Baccalaureate (IB). As you are already aware, we are an “IB Candidate School" and the December visit is part of the process to verify our readiness to offer the IB Diploma Programme commencing in August 2016. Our IB visitors will spend two days at the school meeting with staff, students and parents. We look forward to welcoming them to BIS Hanoi.

Finally thank you to all the parents and students for all their lovely wishes to the teachers on Teachers’ Day as it very much appreciated by us all.

Have a wonderful “Teacher’s Day” weekend!

Mr Anthony Rowlands, Principal
